Surface Finishes

Below are brief descriptions of available finish quality options.

  • Ball Polished blanks exhibit a bright, lightly textured surface. This finish is achieved through a wet tumbling process using polished stainless steel media with specific chemicals. These blanks can be used for proof or proof-like coins, medallions and bars.
  • Burnished blanks exhibit a shiny, visibly textured, peened surface. This finish is achieved through a wet vibratory process typically with stainless steel media with specific chemicals. These blanks can be used for proof-like or brilliant uncirculated coins, medallions and bars.
  • As Rolled blanks exhibit a uniform surface. This is achieved during the final rolling process without additional mechanical or chemical processes. These blanks can be used for brilliant uncirculated or bullion coins, medallions and bars.
